The interface enables television service providers to create a fully operator-branded subscriber experience such as such as those offered by Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu by streaming content directly to connected set-tops, devices and TVs.

Pifer, the founder of ETI Software 20 years ago, is a visionary in B/OSS provisioning software and a subject matter expert in the constantly changing field of telecommunications. He will participate on the panel “Minding Your Middleware: Choosing IPTV Platforms in Changing Times.” Selecting middleware has long been a key part of the IPTV process, but as OTT video create new challenges and new options for TelcoTV providers, the middleware decision process is changing as well. This session will share the experience of operators who have considered traditional and non-traditional choices for delivering video.

From 1972 to 1977, he was Division Manager, Satellite Communications, and was responsible for developing and marketing satellite equipment for data, voice and television transmission.

Leveraging a robust integration and strong partnership with Metaswitch products, ETI augmented Triad’s provisioning capabilities of Metaswitch to support on-screen applications providing enhanced Caller ID, Caller ID History Log, On-Screen Visual Voicemail, Call Disposition functionality, and the “Click to Call Back,” function. Beisner, a well-known subject matter expert in fiber service activation interfaces, joins the conference as a guest speaker again this year, presenting “The Unique Operational Challenges of Managing an Open Access Network (OAN).” He will discuss the critical differences in the OAN architecture and how those differences impact operations and Operational Support System (‘OSS’) applications.

With over 15 years of experience with billing and OSS applications in the cable, telco, and municipal utility markets, Beisner has a specialization in fiber service activation interfaces. Since joining ETI in 2004, he has been very involved with all aspects of ETI’s Fiber-to-the-Home (‘FTTH’) and DSL interface products serving in several capacities including product manager, project manager and director of ETI’s technical services division. These different roles have allowed him to develop keen insights into the challenges associated with deploying an FTTH network. Beisner was employed by CSG Systems before joining ETI.

ETI’s flagship B/OSS product, Triad, provides automated, flow-through service activation to GVTC’s DSL ports via an interface to the Calix B6 family of Ethernet Service Access Node (ESANs). The full integration to Calix systems, facilitated through ETI’s long-standing involvement in the Calix Compatible program, includes advanced auditing and reporting capabilities that give service providers like GVTC important tools necessary to manage their network and provisioning data.

“Our goal is to operate as efficiently as possible, so one of our first objectives was to audit our data,” explained George O’Neal, GVTC Vice President, Network Services, said. “Triad’s robust auditing tools allowed us to reconcile the way our DSL network was provisioned in terms of end user services with the service information in our billing system. It was very enlightening.” In addition, Triad’s host API gave GVTC the ability to import large amounts of customer-specific DSL circuit data, effectively managing the conversion process in-house.
